Packing List for Lofoten

May 25, 2021
Packing List for Lofoten: Mountain Shoes, Jacket + Organic Cotton T-shirt

Packing list for Lofoten or any tremendous outdoor activity in Norway. You will probably do many epic hikes during your stay in stunning Lofoten. For that, I have created a packing list with essential items for Lofoten, so we will be ready for the outdoor adventure in Lofoten and the equipment it will require.

Packing List for Lofoten

1. Mountain Shoes in Norway

Mountain Shoes in Norway

When spending any time outdoor in Norway, we need to talk about mountain shoes and why they are so essential to be a part of your backpack. In Norway, the weather and the conditions are ever-changing. We must be prepared for rain, snow, and fog, even its June and summer in Norway. If it is one pair you need to pack for Norway, it is the mountain shoes, and you can do amazing hikes no matter what the weather looks like. There are four qualities you need to consider when buying your mountain shoes for outdoor hiking:

Waterproof

Anyone packing to Lofoten should pack a pair of mountain shoes. I have to say; it does matter which mountain shoes you choose. Mountain shoes should be somehow waterproof, excellent if they are gore-tex.

Vibram Soles

I highly recommend having your mountain shoes with a Vibram-sole to secure great grip hiking on slippery stones up in the mountains. I trust my Vibram soles – they are; Slip Resistant, long-lasting and waterproof.

Protection from the Environment

Another thing to consider when choosing your mountain shoes is the height of the boots. Is it protecting your ankles? If you are doing long hikes from three hours onward, I highly recommend getting mountain shoes that protect your ankles and support them. After a long day of hiking, it gets easier to turn your ankles, which is not great for any long hike.

Weight of the Shoes

Yes, this is very important. Mountain shoes can get heavy. Due look around to find the one that has the qualities you need. Higher shoes on the ankles will likely be more prosperous than shorter ones. Once again, if a bit more weight gives more protection, sometimes that’s what you need for your mountain shoe.

Pauline Travels Will Be Using: Crestvale Future Light Shoes

In Lofoten, I will be testing the mountain shoes from North Face that Addnature has sponsored me to try out. I choose them myself, and I will give my honest feedback about them after hiking for seven days in Lofoten. I love the Crestvale Future Light Shoes because it is super light, 505 grams per shoe – as the name says. And that it is waterproof and with a Vibram sole.

Update about the Moutain Shoes after one Season in the Norwegian Mountains

I couldn’t ask for better mountain shoes. Even during my first hike, I managed to hike with them without any problems. They were perfectly on my foot. And it gave the support I needed, and the sole with the Vibram gripe is what you need in Norway on wet stones and slippery mood in the mountains. A perfect shoe for any hike in Norway, maybe the best thing on my packing list to Lofoten.

2. Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket

I have ordered great weather for our summer vacation in Lofoten. I hope the only jacket I need to wear is the Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket sponsored by Addnature. It is a semi-warm jacket with a wool knit face and soft fleece interior. Summer in Norway can be chilly; from 5 to 25 degrees in one day is possible.

I hope this will be the perfect hike and camp jacket. Keep warm on the mountain or sit outside and watch the midnight sun. Also, Patagonia is very Lofoten when it comes to brand. Lofoten is about keeping the island sustainable for tourists and locals, so why not use Patagonia, which is all about sustainability and has Fair Trade Certified products.

3. Organic Cotton T-Shirt from Patagonia

If the weather gets warm and sunny, I will only be wearing this cool t-shirt with organic cotton from Patagonia sponsored by Addnature. Nothing is better than pure cotton when the Norwegian sun is coming up to warm the skin.

I appreciate it when companies are doing Sustainability Management on a big scale. Patagonia was the first company we discussed in my Sustainability Management course in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After that, I always choose a company that tries to do better for the world and the community.

Fair Trade Certified – Sewing: The product is made in a Fair Trade Certified sewing facility, which means Patagonia pays a premium to workers so they can elevate their standard of living.

Organic Cotton: Organically farmed cotton employs nature-based solutions to manage pests and build healthy soil instead of the synthetic pesticides, herbicides, defoliants fertilizers, and GMO seeds used to grow conventional cotton.

If you want, you can read about my: Adventure in Patagonia.

And see which mountain the Patagonia logo comes from.

A Norwegian Travel Voice & Trying to Impact the World by Nudging People to Choose More Sustainable Travel.

I’m shaped by nature. I grew up at the edge of th I’m shaped by nature.

I grew up at the edge of the Stadt peninsula — where the ocean doesn’t negotiate and the wind decides your plans. You learn early to read the sky. To sense the shift before the squall rolls in. To move before the door is pushed open.

The weather isn’t small talk at the coast.
It’s strategy.
It’s timing.
It’s survival.

And the women knew it best.

While the men were at sea, coastal women held everything together — land, livestock, homes, children, community. They didn’t call it resilience. They simply lived it.

They understood something very important that we need to remember well.

You don’t dominate nature.
You collaborate with it.

Today I live in the Lofoten Islands, again surrounded by strong coastal women. Different generation. Same backbone.

To adapt when conditions shift.
To build with the landscape, not against it.
To know when to move — and when to stand firm.

To me, that is a coastal inheritance.

The coast teaches you self-efficacy. Patience. Awareness. Respect.

It shapes women who know that sustainability isn’t about control — it’s about relationship.

And that’s the spirit I carry into my work, my travels, and the future I’m building.

Thank you @dino.serrao for capturing my coastal spirit in this portrait.
2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times wi 2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times with family and friends! It went so fast! Many highlights this year! And many great hikes even in Lofoten and Sunnmøre!

2025, I have used less time on my phone more flight mode, more with just being. It will continue onward for 2026. I’m still traveling and doing many mini adventures. Mostly being with loved ones.

In April we were in Cuba, which always disconnect but reconnect you much better with what matters and the importance of being grateful and appreciating what you have in Life. When we travel, how can we travel well, how do we show up at a destination.

My last international travel this year was Lanzarote, famous for its landscape and architecture. Best of all traveling with my sister. We used public buses, eat at different local places and guided tour to the national park. What an island!

I think one word that has been important this year for me is mindful. Be aware, be curious, ask open questions, reflect more before speaking and listen.

Being in nature is the best gift for human nature. We must visit more often. We must focus on our sleep quality.

I think 2025 have been a year of flowing and protecting my energy on what sparks joy to me. The most limited resource we have is time. How can we live the most happy with the time we have. How can we use our time and energy well.

2025 I’m very grateful for the year it was a blessing filled with love laughters, friendship and some important life reflections and some new changes.

2026, welcome let’s embrace and see where the wind takes us this year!

Wishing you all the very best new year filled with abundance, hope and peace. May the year be as good as you want it to be! Or even better as magical as you want ✨🤩
October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The start of the month was breathtaking in Lofoten. We welcomed German travel experts for a MEGAFAM trip in the Lofoten Islands and had a blast connecting with new faces and industry colleagues. Truly amazing!!🤩 #lofoten #lofotenislands #megafam #lofoteninfo #visitnorway
Greece is always a good plan! This time we went is Greece is always a good plan! This time we went island jumping to Skiathos and Skopelos. You know the Mamma Mia Islands 🌞 Also Athens, but next post. I think Skopelos has the clearest water I have seen in Europe. So stunning so pure, wow! So green the Island. Could have been away longer as always, but now living slow cabin life before hitting back North. #islandescape #greece #visitgreece #skiathos #skopelos #islandsofadventure
