My last adventure to Argentina was full of wonderful moments and some hard times. From delicious medialunas and tasty Malbec vine to more cruel things like soaraway inflation – Argentina has one of the world’s highest inflation rates 25,4 percent. The pesos have lost about 21 percent of its value since the start of the year. Inflation makes everything a bit more complicated, maybe not so much for a traveler but for the people living there, it is a daily struggle.
My time back in Argentina was everything and even a bit more. I have been longing for this return since I left the country three years ago, and finally, I did it. I’m delighted with my decisions about returning to Argentina. Being back where my love for South America started. In 2015, I lived three months in Buenos Aires while studying sustainability management and Spanish. In that time, I explored Iguazu Falls, Mendoza and I visit the Gauchos in the Campo. Now it was time to realize another dream, mighty Patagonia in Argentina.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen quite a lot of my Patagonia in Argentina experience.
After four days of being in Buenos Aires, walking around in Palermo neighborhood that has a tremendous amount of street art and undiscovered stories. It was time for a getaway. It was time to jump on a plane for realizing a long time dream, which was walking in the mountains of Patagonia in Argentina.
Are you ready to be taken into the wonders of Patagonia and four hundred different colors on the trees?
Patagonia in Argentina: Trip of a Lifetime
5 Days in Patagonia Argentina – A Budget Itinerary
Traveling to Patagonia in Argentina at the end of the season was one of my biggest concern. It turned out to be just fine. My first stop was El Chaltén the hiking capital in Argentina; it was my favorite destination for the trip, full of impressive mountains, endless tracks, and of course a couple of Cerveceria (craft beer) for dehydrating after the hikes.
Patagonia is the perfect getaway for people seeking outdoor adventures and natural beauty. The best part of being there at the end of the season was no fuss and crowds. Sometimes we were walking hours without seeing people.
Note: I was fortunate with the weather, talked to another girl, she had been there for three weeks with rain. That I had sun and clear sky on my first day hiking was out of this world lucky.
Fitz Roy in El Chaltén, Argentina.
El Chaltén is the small mountain village that has the delight of housing one of the most famous mountains in Argentina and maybe the world, which is the famous Fitz Roy that stretches 3 441 meters high.
On my first day in El Chaltén, I went on the popular hike to the Laguna de Los Tres. Which is the lake right in front of Fitz Roy, a trek that takes around 9 hours and includes 24 kilometers and two hours with hard hiking including ice and snow to keep things interesting. The reward is the glories view of Fitz Roy; then you almost forget that you died when hiking up (It was not that extreme, but the feeling was there at one point).
The picture above is after 3 hours hiking in an antic forest. We are getting closer to the foot of Fitz Roy.
The last 300 meters before getting up the hill that gives the famous view of Fitz Roy.
What a view of Patagonia.
We made it! Laguna de Los Tres with Fitz Roy and it’s hight of 3 441 meters in the background, El Chaltén.
After being a bit crazy booking a ticket to Argentina, this was my reward. A few days for myself in pure nature surrounded by peaceful places in the mountains of Patagonia.
My new friend Sebastian from Santa Fe, Argentina. He was a great companion on the hikes. I loved that one of his first questions was: Are you not afraid of traveling solo and being alone? I have been 5 minutes in the airport in El Calafate and I’m already talking to you, so I’m not alone. Then we laughed.
Returning to El Chaltén from Fitz Roy, not sure if we should cry or laugh because the pain we were feeling in our legs was exhausting.
Cerro Torre in El Chaltén, Argentina.
The second day hiking it was time to see if we could get a peak of Cerro Torre in El Chaltén, but was not promising. Who doesn’t love a 20-kilometer hike surrounded in incredible colors from the Patagonian trees?
Cerro Torre is covered in the fug of clouds.
10 Points if you spot the bird!
Glacier Perito Moreno, close to El Calafate, Argentina.
Glacier Perito Moreno is the third largest reserve of fresh water in the world. The crazy party it is not shrinking, but growing, and the glaciologist don’t know why.

Takk for inspirasjon. 😀
Such a great post <3 Hope that one day I could have a chance to visit Argentina. I`m sure that my experience in there will be one of the most memorable moments in my life. Thank you
