5 Places To Eat in Lofoten, Norway

March 6, 2022
The best place to eat in Lofoten is Polarhagen with Parsa and Lisa.

Lofoten has stunning scenery with wild mountains and sea fishing, but does it have unique places to eat in Lofoten? Yes, it sure does! I will present five places to eat in Lofoten that will not break the bank. The places to eat in Lofoten will give you a tasty meal and a Norwegian food experience. Many work and collaborate with local farms and producers to use the best of Lofoten’s local ingredients.

Eat in Lofoten, but Don’t Forget to Hike & Explore

If you are a hiker, you must do three hikes on Lofoten Island. Then, the packing list for visiting Northern Norway and things to do when visiting Lofoten Island.

1. Skrova Harbour on the Island of Skrova outside Svolvær in Lofoten

To find this charming place called Skrova Harbour, you must get on the local ferry to Skrova Island. You can take the ferry from Svolvær, please double-check the ferry table, so you know how long you will be on the island. It is an excellent trip crossing the fjord, and best of all, you will see the whole mountain ridge of Lofoten from the sea.

Daytrip to Skrova Island

If you have time, see if you can schedule a kayak tour around the pristine island. If not, eat fresh prawns and perfectly chilled wine at Skrova Harbour, where they have all the charm and character that people from the North of Norway have. Charming stay at Skrova, if you need to spend the night, will be Heimbrygga.

2. Maren Anne i Sørvågen in Lofoten

Maren Anne, in Sørvågen, is one of five places to eat in Lofoten when visiting the island for vacation. Sometimes, you must splurge; at Maren Anne, you will eat the local food with a twist. I had the tongue of cod presented much tastier than the then-traditional way, and even the locals still approve of the dish, even though it has been altered to get more people to try tasting it.

For Places to Eat in Lofoten, BOOK A TABLE IN HIGH SEASON.

At Maren Anne in Lofoten, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, the service is excellent, and the timing is perfect. You must make reservations and remember to say you want a window table. You can lockdown at the harbor and see the fish boat that caught your dinner earlier in the day. The fried cod tongue with poppy salmon roe and mango is a delight for the eye and the taste. You can always stay at the Tide Hotel if you want to drink wine for the meal and not drive afterward.

3. Polarhagen in Lofoten cloese to Leknes & Viking Museum

The best place to eat in Lofoten is Polarhagen with Parsa and Lisa. They truly gave the whole experience. They moved from Oslo to Lofoten and now grove vegetables above the Arctic Circle. If you can attend a pop-up evening at their home, you must do it! Get a profound insight into how it is to live and work above the Arctic Circle. Also, get how they use microclimate to grow vegetables to provide local restaurants with local ingredients.

Local Farmer & with Local Products from Lofoten

Parsa is maybe the most creative Pizza Curator I know. He put everything from the garden and cheese from the local cheese farm Lofoten gårdsysteri onto the pizza to make the most incredible combination of flavors. Have a garden evening above the Arctic Circle, and try the famous victory onion – Allium Victorialis from the Viking age. And eat maybe the tastiest pizza in Norway with a cold beer from Lofoten.

Skårungen for the Local Vibe

In Skårungen, they make fabulous cakes. I can highly recommend staying a night at Skårungen Camping. We did, and we loved it – Skårungen – Hotel, Cabins, and Camping.

4. The Best Burger at Aimee’s in Leknes, Lofoten

Maybe you are coming from New York, and you are thinking, why should I eat a hamburger in Lofoten when I can eat cod? Aimee’s in Leknes, are one of the best places to eat in Lofoten, if you are looking for a hamburger. They use local meat as long as it’s possible, they also use greens from Polarhagen in Lofoten and last, the cheese is from Lofoten gårdsysteri. They are using products from several different farmers, so if you want to support the local community in Lofoten, have dinner at Aimee’s. Best of all, it will not break the bank. Aimee’s was awarded for being the food ambassador of the year in Lofoten 2021.

Aimee's in Leknes is a tasty place to eat in Lofoten.

5. Hov Farm in Lofoten – Riding & Dining

Hov farm – Hov gård is a charming place for riding Icelandic horses in the Arctic landscape combined with Viking history and locations. Remember to book the horseback ride. It is very often fully booked. If you don’t get in on horseback, maybe they will have some food for you in the restaurant at the barn. I highly recommend the perfect grilled entrecöte with chimichurri influenced by the Argentinean chef. I was right back in Buenos Aires at a barn in Lofoten. How cool is it to experience the incredible world in your own country? I love it.

Camping at Hov Farm’s Pristine Beach

Hov farm has access to the white sandy beach, and it is pristine. And yes, you will go horseback riding on it. Or you will walk barefoot on it if you can control the cold in Northern Norway. Or maybe you even go to the sauna and get a dip in the ocean? How much of a Viking are you? Or if you don’t like camping, you can stay at this charming house next to the beach: Hov-Vacation Home.

LAST ADVICE ON PLACES TO EAT IN LOFOTEN

I have chosen friendly restaurants for the wallet in this blog post. Suppose you have the money to splurge on good food but not take it all out with a 5-course meal. I have recommended various places to eat in Lofoten because they are locally owned and work with local farmers and producers. If you want to contribute to the local community and taste local products, the mentioned places to eat in Lofoten are well worth your money. If you want to splurge, you should eat at Holmen Lofoten.

A Norwegian Travel Voice & Trying to Impact the World by Nudging People to Choose More Sustainable Travel.

I’m shaped by nature. I grew up at the edge of th I’m shaped by nature.

I grew up at the edge of the Stadt peninsula — where the ocean doesn’t negotiate and the wind decides your plans. You learn early to read the sky. To sense the shift before the squall rolls in. To move before the door is pushed open.

The weather isn’t small talk at the coast.
It’s strategy.
It’s timing.
It’s survival.

And the women knew it best.

While the men were at sea, coastal women held everything together — land, livestock, homes, children, community. They didn’t call it resilience. They simply lived it.

They understood something very important that we need to remember well.

You don’t dominate nature.
You collaborate with it.

Today I live in the Lofoten Islands, again surrounded by strong coastal women. Different generation. Same backbone.

To adapt when conditions shift.
To build with the landscape, not against it.
To know when to move — and when to stand firm.

To me, that is a coastal inheritance.

The coast teaches you self-efficacy. Patience. Awareness. Respect.

It shapes women who know that sustainability isn’t about control — it’s about relationship.

And that’s the spirit I carry into my work, my travels, and the future I’m building.

Thank you @dino.serrao for capturing my coastal spirit in this portrait.
2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times wi 2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times with family and friends! It went so fast! Many highlights this year! And many great hikes even in Lofoten and Sunnmøre!

2025, I have used less time on my phone more flight mode, more with just being. It will continue onward for 2026. I’m still traveling and doing many mini adventures. Mostly being with loved ones.

In April we were in Cuba, which always disconnect but reconnect you much better with what matters and the importance of being grateful and appreciating what you have in Life. When we travel, how can we travel well, how do we show up at a destination.

My last international travel this year was Lanzarote, famous for its landscape and architecture. Best of all traveling with my sister. We used public buses, eat at different local places and guided tour to the national park. What an island!

I think one word that has been important this year for me is mindful. Be aware, be curious, ask open questions, reflect more before speaking and listen.

Being in nature is the best gift for human nature. We must visit more often. We must focus on our sleep quality.

I think 2025 have been a year of flowing and protecting my energy on what sparks joy to me. The most limited resource we have is time. How can we live the most happy with the time we have. How can we use our time and energy well.

2025 I’m very grateful for the year it was a blessing filled with love laughters, friendship and some important life reflections and some new changes.

2026, welcome let’s embrace and see where the wind takes us this year!

Wishing you all the very best new year filled with abundance, hope and peace. May the year be as good as you want it to be! Or even better as magical as you want ✨🤩
October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The start of the month was breathtaking in Lofoten. We welcomed German travel experts for a MEGAFAM trip in the Lofoten Islands and had a blast connecting with new faces and industry colleagues. Truly amazing!!🤩 #lofoten #lofotenislands #megafam #lofoteninfo #visitnorway
Greece is always a good plan! This time we went is Greece is always a good plan! This time we went island jumping to Skiathos and Skopelos. You know the Mamma Mia Islands 🌞 Also Athens, but next post. I think Skopelos has the clearest water I have seen in Europe. So stunning so pure, wow! So green the Island. Could have been away longer as always, but now living slow cabin life before hitting back North. #islandescape #greece #visitgreece #skiathos #skopelos #islandsofadventure
