Postcard from Trondheim

July 30, 2018
Postcard from Trondheim is my personal travel notes about how I experiecned the city as an explorer & tourist. It is more about my experience & what I did.

After having one day in Oslo, it was time to jump on a plane and go to my summer job in Trondheim. The third biggest city in Norway with around 190 000 people living and most of them are students. Now all the students are away enjoying summer vacation. Then it was Trondheim and me!

To be honest, I knew very little about Trondheim before my arrival. I’m trying to explore and discover more about this city that is supposedly the leading food region when it comes to local products. Who had known?

Postcard from Trondheim

Postcard from Trondheim in 2018, is my personal travel notes about visiting the city for three weeks.

My three weeks in Trondheim is coming to an end, that is something good, because I’m homesick. I have been in Norway, but, still not been home to where my family is living. I’m ready for Sunnmøre where the fjords are prettiere than the forest.

What can I say about Trondheim, from a personal perspective? I love Trondheim for it’s closeness to nature and fjords. Trondheim is the third biggest city in Norway, and it is green, the town is surrounded in nature. That’s what I love about it. I have completely fallen in love with the Lade Trail, which is a scenic walk along the fjord-side of Trondheim.

After 10 months in Madrid miles away from the ocean, I have acknowledged how much nature means for me and how much I need to have it in my everyday life. Being back in Norway and closer to to the fjords gives me peacefulness and tranquility. In Norwegian, we would say it calms my soul. Norway is truly powered by nature, and it makes my life happier.

As coming back to Norway, and being used to prices from Madrid, Spain. I’m utterly shocked by the costs, and I understand that tourists feel somehow rubbed when entering the country. Then again it is all about prioritizing on what you want to spend money on, but then again 4 US dollars for a coffee, that is painful.

To my mum, Kristin thank you for showing me the incredible natural world in the first place; you always make it a magical adventure no matter what day or weather it is.

That mum, is your greatest gift, sharing your love for nature with the people around you. This gift I have been receiving since childhood, and it is still affecting my daily choices when it comes to exploring and seeing what’s out there in nature.

Do you want to know what my favorite travels are? Do you want to know what my favorite travels are? The one where you don’t know what to expect, then you are mesmerized. I love islands and adore petite places with tons of personality in nature and people. You don’t know what you signed up for but are going anyway because your curiosity needs to be amused. Værøy so much nature; either choose easy hikes or eat altitudes for breakfast. Either way, Værøy has a hike for you. Walk on the edge of the mountain or town, breathe in and enjoy that salty sea air, and just be and perfect the art of doing nothing. See boats passing by and say hello to the whales as well. Take time to slow down and enjoy Værøy and stay the night or a week at @lofotenfyr, or take the ferry to Røst for more cradling by the sea. #lofoten #visitlofoten #lofotenislands #lofotenhighlights #visitnorway #norwaytravel
