7 Top Places in Lofoten in Northern Norway

October 27, 2020
Top Places in Lofoten in Northern Norway

Top Places in Lofoten is surrounded by the small island community in Northern Norway. It doesn’t come as a surprise that natural beauty is one of Norway’s greatest assets. By this, we have the Seven must-visit places in Lofoten in Northern Norway. The crucial list for planning your Road Trip adventure in Lofoten and exploring the nature tourism of Norway.

7 Top Places in Lofoten in Northern Norway

And also remember the Medieval churches, deep fjords, crystal clear blue water and sandy beaches, mountains that look like troll and sea eagles that fish better than you.

Natural Beauty is one of Norway’s Greatest Assets

1. Top Places in Lofoten is Å

When every care is taking left when leaving the ferry from Bodø, you take right. And then you go to the end of Lofoten and discover the small, picturesque fishing village Å. In that way surrounded yourself to deep mountains, hanging over the village, and getting kissed by salty ocean water in your face.

The real reason you want to go to Å, is because you want to taste the best cinnamon rolls in Noway! The bakery has been operating since 1884, and the old stone oven is still running a smooth operation. Get in line and wait to be served heaven on earth.

2. Reine is One of The Top Places in Lofoten

Reine is maybe one of the strongest must-visit places in Lofoten, it’s iconic! You probably have seen tons of photos of the famous mountain: Reinebringen, a modest 448 meters high. The summit’s view is why around 1000 people walk there daily in the high season. One of the most popular hikes in Lofoten. Can we blame the people when the view is mountain peaks, villages, and spectacular ocean views?

We went exploring the National Tourist Route of the coast of Helgeland and then further on to Lofoten. This Road Trip includes 2 of the 18 scenic National Tourist Route in Norway, that consist of scenic lookout points, visitor centers, bridges and public toilets. When being on a road trip, it is all about the stops along the road and the journey. Let's not forget the cinnamon rolls! We had long days in the cars with 5 hours driving almost every day sometimes even a bit more because the ferries do take their time on these two National Tourist Routes.

3. Sakris Island in Lofoten

If you can, try to stay at Saksris, the beautiful Island, that is only a 5-minute car drive from Reine in Lofoten. It’s smaller and even closer to the ocean, how is that possible, well that’s Norway. Then go to a local restaurant for dinner and grab a generous portion of Bacalao and some local beer from Lofoten. Then enjoy the view of the sea and the salty breeze kissing your face.

Sakris Island in Reine Lofoten is one of seven Top Places in Lofoten in Northern Norway

4. Nusfjord Fishing Village is A Must-See in Lofoten

Nusfjord Fishing Village is another must visit place in Lofoten. One hour drive from Reine, you are getting even deeper into the Norwegian fisherman’s culture and the life of the coast of Norway. In Nusfjord you can be taken back in time by the antique colonial shop, which is kept authentic and with all sorts of fun vintage objects from the early time in Nusfjord. They also have great Norwegians waffles and if you want, you can go on an excursion and be a fisherman for the day and catch your own dinner.

If you have, you must plan a visit to the breathtaking beach of Rambergstranda.

5. Henningsvær is One of The Best Places in Lofoten

Henningsvær is another Must Visit Places in Lofoten, due to having the best cinnamon buns in Loften, or was that in Å? I can’t decide place both of them are mouthwatering and tasty. If you want to be at the cool place in Lofoten, I would say that Henningsvær very much is the place where the cool kids hang around. Also, see: 7 Unique Places to Stay in Norway.

6. Trevarefabrikken in Henningsvær

That’s why Trevarefabrikken needs its own explanation. Pretty much an old factory turned into young hip collaboration place, with even offering to house, cool concerts, sauna with a view and sometimes you can even bake your own pizza or if have Yoga by the oceanfront. Yes, Trevarefabrikken is Lofoten’s cultural hotspot and is located in Henningsvær, the place for the cool kids in Lofoten.

7.Eggum in Lofoten

Midnight sun hunter? Eggum is the place to go when wanting to explore the magic of the midnight sun. You can also find the famous architect of Snøhetta with a rest area in the of an amphitheater with a car park and service facilities.

The Eggum Tourist Route is one of 18 National Norwegian Tourist Routes, commissioned and managed by the Public Roads Administration to allow travelers to enjoy the countryside’s spectacular vistas with amenities such as service buildings, hiking trails, and public art. The Eggum project consists of a service building within an amphitheater, a hiking trail, a car park, and stairs built in gabion walls – Snøhetta

A Norwegian Travel Voice & Trying to Impact the World by Nudging People to Choose More Sustainable Travel.

I’m shaped by nature. I grew up at the edge of th I’m shaped by nature.

I grew up at the edge of the Stadt peninsula — where the ocean doesn’t negotiate and the wind decides your plans. You learn early to read the sky. To sense the shift before the squall rolls in. To move before the door is pushed open.

The weather isn’t small talk at the coast.
It’s strategy.
It’s timing.
It’s survival.

And the women knew it best.

While the men were at sea, coastal women held everything together — land, livestock, homes, children, community. They didn’t call it resilience. They simply lived it.

They understood something very important that we need to remember well.

You don’t dominate nature.
You collaborate with it.

Today I live in the Lofoten Islands, again surrounded by strong coastal women. Different generation. Same backbone.

To adapt when conditions shift.
To build with the landscape, not against it.
To know when to move — and when to stand firm.

To me, that is a coastal inheritance.

The coast teaches you self-efficacy. Patience. Awareness. Respect.

It shapes women who know that sustainability isn’t about control — it’s about relationship.

And that’s the spirit I carry into my work, my travels, and the future I’m building.

Thank you @dino.serrao for capturing my coastal spirit in this portrait.
2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times wi 2025 was rich in good memories, wonderful times with family and friends! It went so fast! Many highlights this year! And many great hikes even in Lofoten and Sunnmøre!

2025, I have used less time on my phone more flight mode, more with just being. It will continue onward for 2026. I’m still traveling and doing many mini adventures. Mostly being with loved ones.

In April we were in Cuba, which always disconnect but reconnect you much better with what matters and the importance of being grateful and appreciating what you have in Life. When we travel, how can we travel well, how do we show up at a destination.

My last international travel this year was Lanzarote, famous for its landscape and architecture. Best of all traveling with my sister. We used public buses, eat at different local places and guided tour to the national park. What an island!

I think one word that has been important this year for me is mindful. Be aware, be curious, ask open questions, reflect more before speaking and listen.

Being in nature is the best gift for human nature. We must visit more often. We must focus on our sleep quality.

I think 2025 have been a year of flowing and protecting my energy on what sparks joy to me. The most limited resource we have is time. How can we live the most happy with the time we have. How can we use our time and energy well.

2025 I’m very grateful for the year it was a blessing filled with love laughters, friendship and some important life reflections and some new changes.

2026, welcome let’s embrace and see where the wind takes us this year!

Wishing you all the very best new year filled with abundance, hope and peace. May the year be as good as you want it to be! Or even better as magical as you want ✨🤩
October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The October disappeared in the blink of an eye! 😃 The start of the month was breathtaking in Lofoten. We welcomed German travel experts for a MEGAFAM trip in the Lofoten Islands and had a blast connecting with new faces and industry colleagues. Truly amazing!!🤩 #lofoten #lofotenislands #megafam #lofoteninfo #visitnorway
Greece is always a good plan! This time we went is Greece is always a good plan! This time we went island jumping to Skiathos and Skopelos. You know the Mamma Mia Islands 🌞 Also Athens, but next post. I think Skopelos has the clearest water I have seen in Europe. So stunning so pure, wow! So green the Island. Could have been away longer as always, but now living slow cabin life before hitting back North. #islandescape #greece #visitgreece #skiathos #skopelos #islandsofadventure
