25 Pictures of The Tulum Ruins in Mexico

May 6, 2020
Tulum Ruins in Mexico

The Tulum Ruins are on the edge of the turquoise ocean and are located on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. The picture-perfect archaeological ruins of Tulum, are one of the best-preserved coastal ruins of the Maya sites in Mexico. It is only 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen and a ferry ride from Cozumel. And is also close to Dos Ojos & Grand Cenote, and Akumal Beach.

A Tourist Destination

I have to tell you an important fact, there are loads of tourists visiting the archaeological ruins in Tulum. Everyone is walking around and blocking the view and the walkways, and we are all trying to get the most perfect picture for Instagram. Be prepared that you will not be alone on this magic site. Be patient and show respect for other people visiting the site as well.

A Pristine Location

The archaeological ruins are worth a visit due to the pristine seaside location. The details of the buildings are very much alive and the same are the brilliant stories of the cleverness of the Mayan people. Don’t forget the lighthouse and how clever the system of navigation is done in the Mayan way.

Tulum Or Chizen Itza

If having a short time on your holiday at the Yucatán Peninsula, I would highly recommend doing the Tulum Ruins, and then maybe skip Chizen Itza. Because at The Tulum ruins you need maybe two to three hours, and you are done. Chizen Itza is a day trip that often takes 12 hours. I personally think the Tulum Ruins are prettier and have an amazing seaside view! Yes, Chizen Itza is grand and impressive, but at some point, it is too much if not being very interested in all the historical aspects of the Mayan people, and ruins.

Time needed: 2 hours and 30 minutes

5 Tulum Ruins Tips

  1. Arrive Early in the morning at 08.00

Because of fewer people and not too high temperatures.

  2. Bring 80 Mexican Pesos – Entrance FEE

You can ONLY pay the entrance fee with Mexican Pesos

  3. Bring Water Bottel

Dehydration is key for any good experience

  4. Bring Sunscreen

Because we don’t like a sunburn

  5. Bring a Bathing Suit

In case you want to go for a swim at the Tulum Ruins Beach

The Tulum Ruins A Day Trip from Playa del Carmen or Cozumel

If having a car, this is the route I would suggest having a day trip from Playa del Carmen or Cozumel. It includes the famous ruins, the best cenotes, and beaches. Tulum beach is perfect for having lunch and then Akumal Beach if you want to go swimming with the turtles.

Forgetting your phone is easy in Cuba. Forgetting time is easy in Cuba. It’s complicated to let go of the challenge of life, like some places do not have electricity and cellphone service, and gasoline is more challenging than ever and som have very little. However food is always here, as long you are a tourist and can buy food. If you are inventing new recipes you are also good. #cuba #cubatravel #cubaporlavida #travelcuba #cubatrip #havana

I have always been fascinated by Cuba. It is a place where you become much more aware of how much you have and how lucky you are with all your things. It teaches you to be happy about simpler things, it teaches you to be present, and most of all, to go with the flow. Traveling to Cuba is different but beautiful. #cuba #visitcuba #havana #cubatravel #meaningfultravel
