Tranquil & Beautiful Tabarca Island a day trip from Alicante
Tabarca Island around 50 minutes outside of Alicante with the boat and is the only island that is inhabited on the Alicante coast. The island is 1750 meters long, with a maximum breadth of 300 meters and entirely flat. Tabarca is the favorite getaway from Alicante in the weekend for the locals. You can also find adventurous travelers and sun-worshipers that are all hanging out on the island.
Things to do in Tabarca Island
Tabarca Island is a protected marine reserve and by this a great place for scuba diving and snorkeling. The Island is surrounded by crystal clear blue water from the Mediterranean Sea. The ocean is calm, and you can swim among a large number of fish and marine life in the different bays. The Island has unremarkable biodiversity of flora and fauna that you can explore when walking on the various paths around the island.
If you are not a mermaid, then go sunbathing in one of the bays around the Island or maybe just hit the beach. The best thing about Tabarca is that it’s not big so you can walk around the town for an hour and you have done it and then just enjoy the rest of the day with salt water, sea breeze and fresh seafood.
I spent my day in a hidden natural bay towards the lighthouse and away from the main beach. I finished off my day with walking in the main street and eating some delicious fresh sea food in the restaurant that the island inhabited.
